History

Santa Cándida Palace is located to the south of Concepción del Uruguay, on the banks of Arroyo de la China (stream). Founded in 1847 by General Urquiza, this palace illustrates the splendor of the 19th Century. General Urquiza named it Santa Cándida in honor of his mother, Cándida García. The sumptuous mansion, a palace built by the Italian architect Pedro Fossatti in a Tuscan villa style, owes its current look to Antonio Leloir and Adela Unzué, who restored it together with the architect Ángel Gallardo and the Swiss landscape designer Emil Bruder.
